| Since the foundation of the Institute, a Dutch language course has been organized three times a year, divided into four or more different levels. More than 3000 students have followed this course. Two Dutch language books and a practical Dutch grammar have been published for use in this course. In 1994, a longstanding wish of the Institute was fulfilled with the publication of a new Dutch-Japanese dictionary. The dictionary was published by Kodansha Ltd. and edited by the Institute. |
| Since 1990, the Institute organizes the annual exams for the Certificate of Dutch as a Foreign Language (Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal). |
| A new series of high-level lectures and workshops given by Dutch academic specialists from all disciplines and aimed at those who do not have an opportunity for overseas study, but want to stay abreast of the latest developments in Dutch academic research, or those who want to get the feel of Dutch academic studies before they embark on an overseas study stay. The Tokyo Lectures will be in the format of intensive 1~2 weeks' courses and are scheduled to start in 2010. |

| Since its foundation the Institute has initiated, or cooperated in, the organization of many exhibitions, either related to the field of Dutch-Japanese relations, or on modern Dutch art and design. |
| Depending on the availability of qualified teachers, the Institute organizes courses on Dutch art or handicrafts. |
| General lectures on the history of Western Learning, Dutch-Japanese relations, or on modern political, economic, social, or cultural developments in the Netherlands or Japan by Japanese and Dutch experts. |
| The Institute sponsors performances by young Japanese artists returning from study in the Netherlands, and Dutch artists residing in Japan. |

| A great number of individuals or organizations in Japan and the Netherlands are provided with information and help. Especially study tours of students, news media and museums make use of this service. |
