Research on the history of Dutch-Japanese relations is not only supported, but also carried out within the Institute. This research is the main subject of the publications of the Institute. Three current projects:

Translation study of the diaries of the Dutch trading factory at Deshima 1800-1860. Ten volumes have been published. |

Publication of the table of contents of the diaries of the Dutch trading factory at Deshima 1641-1860 (in cooperation with Leiden University). In 1992 the first volume The Deshima Diaries-Marginalia 1700-1740 was published. The second volume covering the years 1740-1800 was published in 2004. The third volume covering the years 1641-1660 is scheduled for 2009. |
